Philippine feed prices may rise this month or next month

Feed prices can be expected to increase by the Philippine hog and poultry raisers by this month or at the latest by November this year.

Speaking at the 25th Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Animal Nutritionists held Wednesday (Oct 3), Philippine Association of Feed Millers Inc. President Norman Ramos said that cost of all key ingredients, including corn, feed wheat, soy meal and amino acids, will continue to rise.

He added however because of the contraction in the backyard pig sector, which makes up the bulk of the market, feed millers cannot pass on the full cost in their feed prices. "On average, we are seeing feed cost increases of anywhere between 5-10%, however feed prices will increase but move at a much lower level," he said.
